Rev to 2,000 rpm at startup and then goes to idle?
My 2003 Ranger 3.0 revs to 2,000 rpm at startup for just a few seconds and then settles back down to idle.
Any suggestions on where to start to fix?
Thanks for any help.

Does it do this regardless whether the engine is cold or warmed up when you start it? If there’s a difference it might point to a sensor. Did you write that this just started happening or it’s always been this way for you?
Two things you could try are cleaning the inside of the IAC and checking if resistance on the TPS changes smoothly. You might have a vacuum leak that the IAC can negate quickly but at initial startup the IAC is very open and letting too much air in.

Thanks for the information. The IAC was a Chinese made part that I had used during my repair process and it did not work correctly. I bought a Motorcraft IAC and it solved my idle problem.
