I'd really like to go to the dealer and see about getting it flashed, Nick, but it's gonna have to wait till my current destitution phase passes. That is something I have wondered about.

I called the local Ford dealer, described the symptoms, and he said it was unlikely to require flashing. This immediately led me to suspect that he doesn't know Fomoco screwed over the programming of quite a few 3.0 FFV ECU in the 2000/2001 Rangers. In any case, I don't see how he knows what the ECU status is without hookin' it up. He talked about scanning the codes, with no mention of money, although I'm not geeked about going to a dealership without some cash on hand. We'll see.

My 3.0 started pinging about 6 months ago and I filled it up with E85 and a can of Seafoam. The pinging stopped, even after switching back to 87 octane. But 6 months later and it's doing it again, I guess I'll fill it up with E85 on my way home today. Anyone have a part number for the 180 degree t-stat?
