Also, the reason the range is so wide is that the system automatically deternines idle position using an internal algorithm. Since the TPS is actually a potentiometer, this was necessary to keep from having to make precision adjustment of the TPS.
Physically where is the TPS? I may want to clean the contacts because I think mine might be going bad due to some random throttle fluctuations I've been having. I'll have my foot barely on the gas and it will downshift and kick up the rpm's as if I just floored it, cept, I didn't... It's only happened twice, but I'm gettin worried about it.
The TPS is on the throttle body where it engages the end of the throttle shaft. I don't think you'll be able to disassemble it for cleaning. Your problem could be the TPS but could also be the IAC.
