Icon4 Turning Over and then Dying - HELP!!

My engine starts and then immediately dies, unless you floor it, but then it is just on the brink of dying but just barely keeps going. And it sputters really bad, and at first there was a smell of exhaust in the engine compartment. this happened right after i put on my 3" body lift today. I'm about to clean my MAF and maybe that could be it, I have a vacuum leak, and a hole in my intake, but both are being temporarily held with electrical tape, until my new intake tube, and vacuum hose grommet get here. any ideas? i really need this to be running by tomorrow, because I have to go to school, and my parents both work so they cant take me. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

tape will hold some vacum lines, my 89's were brittle and kept snapping to which i kept ductaping lol.

you could have an exhaust leak at one of the manifolds before the 02 sensors which will cause your motor to not idle unless you make it idle with the gas pedal

I fixed the problem, I just wrapped duct tape around the entire intake tube and vacuum line. It works now, and i think that should hold me until the new parts get in. Thanks guys!

I just re-discovered this thread.

Fun wouldn't be the word I would use. more like intensive. It was really cool and satisfying to know I did it mostly by myself in my driveway with basic tools, but it took all day, and it was 90+ degrees out, so you do the math... lol
