3.0 Off road

Umm, that's a dumb question. The 3.0 has more than enough power to do anything, especially in 4 low. You think ford would make a vehicle that will actually bog down in some condition? No.
Whatever you throw at it, the 3.0 will handle. Getting stuck is a whole 'nother matter, and some people may say a bigger engine helps you get unstuck, but that is just ****ty wheeling.

Seeing as you're a 4x4... If you have decent offroad tires, you're pretty much set. Even if you have stock tires, you can still offroad (air 'em down a little bit). Don't try any mudholes that appear too deep. A L/S or locker would be nice too. Also, don't forget the recovery gear.
Having different motors doesn't mean a thing. Unless you plan on offroading with 40's, the 3.0 is absolutely fine.

i'm running 32x11.5x15 mastercraft courser MT's, getting stuck was not the problem, it pulled its self through everything, its the large hills that were the problem.
