Whats up everybody-

My Ranger is a 2001 xlt, 3.0 v6 and I started it up and went to pick some buddies up and when I gave it gas it made a weird sort of hissing sound, wasnt very loud but I could still notice it, it started to get louder and louder and now it sounds almost like air purging from an air compressor when I give it gas, it doesnt do it when I let off the gas or am stopped at a stop light idleing, just when I press on the gas. Any idea what this is or whats causing it and how I can fix it? All the help is apriciated!

Does it idle smoothly? If not it could be a vac leak

Have a buddy check under the hood when she is running. Thats what friends are for!

 

It idles fine but it idles at a high rpm (1000-1500)

 

Dumb question but what would I have them look for?
