I have a 2002 with the 3.0 vin V. I need a new engine and have found a couple on eBay but in the description it says for 99 00. I just need the long block but will these work?

Welcome to the forum

You have a 3.0l Vulcan engine, used by Ford from 1986 to 2008 in cars and light trucks/vans
Best fit would be 2000 to 2008 from a Ranger or Mazda B3000, the head bolt length was changed in mid-1999, so just makes it easier if you use an engine that matches that for future work as needed

The car engines were mounted sideways, transverse mounted, so you need to change the head gaskets for use in a Ranger

Ford also used a 3.0l DOHC Duratec engine during these years, it will not work in a Ranger, as is
So don't go by 3.0l only

Yours is a 3.0l OHV
Vin V or U will work as long as you are using your 2002 intake and fuel injectors
