what expo alternator

what expo alternator

ok so im looking to get an expo 130 amp alternator cause mine is going bad. and im wonndering what one to get. come people say 1995+ others say 1996-1998 others say 1998+ and im confused. also on the newer ones it asks sohc or ohv so which one do i need? thanks.

You have at least a 98 judging by your avatar. I got my 130 at MrAlternator.com and it works great, no problems.


PS: If you have 4.0, it should say on the engine, manufactorer ID, and/or manual. I don't think SOHC came out until 2000, they are about +50 more HP than 3.0, compared to the pre-2000 4.0 being at +10 HP compared to the 3.0.

I just bought one for an Explorer at a tire and battery place remanufactured and all they asked was for the bolt configuration and mine was an "H" style.

How does it mount, cause I have a few 130-180 amps layin around.

HA ha, DURRRR. Noticed your sig after I posted :D

I still got my 95 for back up in the garage. You really don't need to go bigger less your truck has a gigantic sound system or a butt load of accessories. I just got it because the previous owner had original everything on the truck at almost 95K.

it mounts up exactly the same, plugs and everything.

A 130 amp alt from an 96 Explorer 4.0 OHV went on my 2002 3.0 OHV with no problems.

Oh, btw, I can tell you whats wrong with yours right now, all the copper on the rotor is worn off.
