What will my 3.0l tow?
What will my 3.0l tow?
I have a 3.0L supercab 4x2 with a class3 hitch and I was thinking of getting a 15' camper that weights around 4000lbs. Do you guys think my ranger will pull it??
something like this...
something like this...
Did you ever notice that little book that came with your truck? Its called an owners manual, it has alot of very valuble peices of information.
You will need a tranny cooler. If I remember right you can get them for under $100 w/o labor. I wouldnt even try with out it.

the 3.0L will do better than you'd think. but its still not the best. but brake'n is another thing that comes with weight. not having electric brake and a controller will leave you making sure you stop way early. and hopefully nobody slams on their brakes in front of you.
no no no no no no no
no?

so 4k dry weight... lets say you've got 50 gallons of water in the tank... add another 400lbs. Then figure you're gonna have some food, drinks, pots and pans, silverware and dishes, blankets/pillows, clothes, TV, dvd player, is a quad going in there? two quads? any passengers coming with you? what about a bbq, fire wood, extra gas for the toys?
If you want...come out here and we can throw my truck up on my flatbed..... you can tow that around to see what 4K feels like with a 3.0

A camper with 2 axles....I think that would be a little too much to handle.
Maybe if you were only taking it a few miles.....two sea doos is enough for me.
As Alon said, there will probanly be added weight with all the extra things you would need.

I said it in another thread, but I tow about 3k fully loaded (with 50gal water, gas, food, ice, drinks, etc), and I wouldn't go any more wiht a 3.0. I have 35's and 4.88's if that makes any difference, but even 33's and 4.10's it was a struggle.
