where does this brown wire go?

I have a 1987 Ranger 2.9L V6. I found this brown wire not connected to anything at the back of the engine by the firewall, This wire is coming from the same area where the TFI wires come out. There are also wires going down to an oxygen sensor and toward the transmission. I have been having troubles with my ranger maybe this is part of my problem.

Welcome to the forum

Don't see a tan or brown wire in diagrams

The "eyelet" looks like it was a Ground on the firewall or engine bolt

At first I was thinking it was a black wire ground until I removed the crud and saw it was a brown wire. It is not a very long wire so it cant be far off but I do not notice any place it should be. Its hard to see well back in that area behind the engine.

I stripped the tape and plastic protector back a little and noticed that this is actually solid orange wire.
