Why would the heater and coolant hoses be removed?

Why would the heater and coolant hoses be removed?
This is a 2001 V6 3.0L Automatic

The heater hoses that run through the firewall to the cabin? Maybe because the heater core is leaking or plugged.

By coolant hose, do you mean the radiator hoses?
