Well i having been doing some research and it looks like i might not be able to do the 5.0L swap because of the law. if i had a 2001 ranger i could, but...

Well i am looking at my other options now. i am thinking of using "Morana V6 Racing's" 3.3L stroker motor. http://www.moranav6racing.com/parts3.html

does anybody know if this motor will work on my truck??? i just e-mailed them so i am waiting for a reply. also how bad do you think my truck would be with this and a whipple? :D

Re: I'm 'Bubba' and I have too much time..
There was a guy on RPS who had tried it, but gave up. It is not a complete motor, needs lots of work still, not something you would wanna mess with unless you have built a motor before.

Sure you could Jacob! All you have to do is to meet the emission requirement for carbuator or fuel injection 5.0l depending on which you decide! The RangerStation has all the information about the emission legal requirement! I hope this helps!

that's what i thought, but now i am finding out that the motor might have to come from the same year or newer vehicle

EDIT: from TheRangerStation

"Certain states, such as California, require the same year or newer engine as the vehicle. "

That would be newer, since you would be buying a NEW motor.

You could goto a engine shop (Up here we have Motor Works which is based out of seattle) that can order engines like no other. If you would like I can try and get the 1-800 # for them. But they order in complete engines all the time....

Any Auto Parts store (Napa for sure) can get you a engine.

Awww man... Clear corner problem UPDATED
I know how you feel man. I wanted to do a 5.0 swap but because of the same year or newer crap i'm just not going to bother. Where I live right now doesn't have emissions but rumor says that we will eventually and I would hate to go through all that trouble and then it not pass emissions. I say just supercharge it then you should be happy.

Due to emmission issue to newer model to what you refure, Jacob. You can get a 4.0l with after market supercharger. It will provide plenty of power than a 5.0l!! Just a thought!! I know it's costly but, it's all about how much you wanna spend!

sorry to say this but there is no way that a whipple can compete with the 5.0L

i think that i want to do the 4.0L swap. does anybody know if it would be a plug and play. i think that i could maybe find one "eventually" for about the price of a whipple. i am talking about finding a wrecked XLT and stealing EVERYTHING including exhast, transmission, and rear-end

got family in another state, ask them to let you register the vehicle, and name and stuff to thier address, that way you have to live up to other states emissions...

Quote: stock 5.0's in late model explorers only made just a little over 200 hp and not much more TQ
my personal fealings towards the 5.0 is that its a relic, outdated, no room for improvement, will wear out in under 100k, drinks way to much gas, exhaust manifold bolts fall out, intakes gum themselfs up with sludge, EGR valve problems, overall ford should have retired this tired old dawg a long time before they actuley did!
my friends mustang runs 10 s quarters on his 5.0 its not out dated nor is there no room for improvment. there is always room for improvement on a v8. for the 5.0 there is tons of aftermarket support. try finding that for the 3.0 or 4.0 there really isnt much out there and use the same amount of money on both and the 5.0 will rule.

A/c not working right.....
7.4 in a 1/8th? Na i doubt in the 1/8th, with that blower, he would have to miss 2nd and then loose traction to run a 7 in the 1/8th..lol

yes a whipple may not be the best answer to a fast truck but the whipple also lets you keep the v6 gas milage and is WAY easier to install than a engine swap would be
