Wire E-Fan direct?

I will be installing a Taurus e-fan hopefully this weekend and was wondering if there was any issue with just wiring it to have constant power, so always on. The reason is that I would like to not have a temp senor. Has anyone done this? Also one other thing, when buying a Taurus e-fan should I go for as new as possible or does it really matter?

How do you plan on having it turned off when the truck is off

I wouldn't. Most of the Taurus fans are 2 speed. If anything wire the low side to constant and then have the high side set to come on with a switch in case you need a little extra cooling.

Be sure you use a relay to power it. Especially if it's being put on a switch.

Yes, the high side can pull up to 50 amps too so make sure to use a 60/70 amp relay

It depends if you have a 2 speed or just 1 speed. The 2 speed will have 3 wires coming off of it, one thick black ground, one thinner colored wire for low speed and one thick colored wire for the high speed. I would wire up the low speed with a 30 amp relay triggered by a hot on ignition wire and then have the high speed with a 70 amp relay triggered by a switch.

Why do you not want to use a temp sensor?

I'm not looking to rely on a sensor, that all. Hey Trent thanks for all your input, this has helped me out huge, thanks!

Oh one more thing, if you go through water crossings a lot while offroading I would look into wiring a switch so you can turn the fan off all together. That would eliminate shorting out the fan if you get it wet. It shouldn't happen but its one of those better safe than sorry things.

96 and up Ford Contour V6 electric fans. They came with the dual set-up, it fits my mustang like it was made to go there. Not much bigger than the Taurus e-fan, plus not a lot of ppl know about them, YET.
