strange problem

ok b4 i go off on a rant about how much better a diesel is maybe someone can help. i got a 91 ranger xlt 2wd. when i start it and dont let it warm up for about 5 mins, (even when it's 75-85 degrees) it's like a carb with the choke stuck wide open. and it has a big spot in accelerator where it seems like its bogging out but when it gets to about 3/4 throttle it takes off like it was shot out of a cannon. it has no codes and i checked the tps and thats good. not sure what kind of voltage i should be getting from the iac. oh yea i forgot one thing. it has a 3.0 liter with a 5 speed. sometimes after i let it warm up it keeps being a bi***. if i turn it off and restart it it's fine. i'm not sure if someone chipped this thing or not but it goes like hell. my full size 84 bronco with a 351 and a real lumpy cam cant touch this ranger nor can my 94 grand cherokee with a 4.0. not off the line or top end according to my wife we were doing about 118-120 mph and my ranger pulled away with no problem at all. any ideas what i shold be looking for it's getting annoying. i would rather fix it for now and come spring after the ice roads im gonna pull the 3.0 and stuff a diesel under the hood.
