get a body lift, then you dont have to remove any of the exhaust

got this thing is being a pain in the ***. 2 days of soaking in pb blaster and a 150lb impact gun on it and it wont budge. every time i try to break it loose like i did with all the others with a 3 foot breaker bar it pop off because of the wobbly socket. tomorrow im going to try turning it in and out and seeing if that will break it out.

I use a weird combination of long extentions, a ratcheting 3/8 breaker bar, a universal, deep 15mm socket. I've been really lucky on my late model Y pipe dropping.....no broken studs. Upon install, I like to brush on a nice heavy layer of anti-seize on the threads full length. That helps next time you've gotta fight it again.

On the back of the Y pipe, where it meets the single pipe, I suggest removing all those studs and using bolts. I now only have to drop the Y-pipe to drop the trans or pull the engine.

The side that you've got the last nut still there...thread on the other nut on the same side of the engine....then try to loosen the stuck nut.

You 3.0's have it nice..... 4.0 it's IMPOSSIBLE to drop the trans without removing the Y pipe. At least the SOHC 4.0...

150lb impact gun? are you running a 1/4" gun or something? do you have a propane torch? it will not get hot enough to make the bolt red hot but it should help break the bond on any rust and melt away some gasket material. that should help but you will need to heat it for a long time

my bad this is the gun...

Amazon.com: Ingersoll-Rand IR-231 1/2-Inch Super Duty Impact Wrench: Home Improvement

but it seems that with about every impact ive ever used if u use it to put on lug nuts if u go as tigh as it will go and then go over the nuts with a ft-lb ratchet (cant remember what its called) it puts bolts at about 100ftlbs or so...i cant imagine it tighting a bolt with 425 ftlbs...seem insane..IMO

my impact gun would just snap those bolts off at full power. so should yours. and i believe you are talking about a torque wrench

if you can snap the bolts off and drill them out you should be able to put new ones in right? if not you can also snap the head off and use a chisel and hammer and turn it out. if you have the room anyway
