2.3l Ecoboost tuner
2.3l Ecoboost tuner
Has anyone installed a tuner to pep this engine up? My 2016 F150 with a 2.7l ecoboost had so much more power, I am a little disappointed after buying the Ranger. Gas mileage is much better, but .... most tuners I have found brag about a 60hp improvement
Take a look at the Ford tuner, comes with a Ford Factory warranty but to get that I believe you have to buy it through a Ford Dealer.
What octane are you using presently? I am using Premium which is what these ecoboost engines should use all of the time. I have no complaints with the power output but we all have our different needs for Power. MPG is really nice but I had to do a few changes to achieve better mpg results.

Hello. I just recently sold a 2019 Ranger and I used the aFe Scorcher Pro. I was very happy with it. Did not have ANY issues with yearly safety emissions / inspection. I noticed it was better than the stock map. I never ran it on a dyno but I could tell the car accelerated better and it saved more gas. I also installed the aFe intake.

The 2019+ Ranger 2.3L ecoboost is calibrated to run on 87 / 89 / 91 / 93 and even E-15. However, for BEST performance, 91 / 93 is recommend.
Whenever I used the aFe Scorcher Pro tuner, I did notice an improvement in power and better MGPs, like 2 to 3 more MPGs.

Ran a piggy back tune from Sila concepts called the Power+. Bought through Madness Autoworks in mine.
Noticed an immediate power change in the truck. Fuel mileage has suffered a bit due to a much heavier use of the pedal since I got the unit in the truck

My 2019 has some turbo lag, but otherwise has all the power I could ask for. I have run it on regular 87 octane for 50k miles, with no issues. It is rated to use 87 and makes no comment in the manual about needing any more.
I get a good combo of mileage (26 to 28 highway mpg) and power. I like that passing is a non-issue.... press pedal, get a kick in the rear and virtually instant passing even starting at higher speeds.
Ford made a LOT of screwups when assembling these trucks, and one of them may be affecting your power issues. I'm not sure what to suggest checking, but there may be some random issue. Possibly in the turbo adjustments for cut-in etc.
Examples: Ford assembled my Ranger with several degrees excess negative camber. That wore out tires in a hurry, although the radical camber did make it stick to the road very well. I also had a defective heater box, giving out 113F air when set to the coldest non-Ac setting. That got replaced, but the new one is now doing the same thing again, just not as extreme... no warranty on this one, so I fix it or live with it.
You may have some similar QC issue causing bad power. I guess you can let the dealer "not find it" (they did that to me 4 times), or you can ditch the truck, which might be the better idea for you.
