I just bought a used Ford Ranger 2021 Lariat and I found something that doesn't seem normal. When I open the tailgate, the bottom touches the license plate and pushes it back. If I drive with tailgate down, there will be significant rubbing. Any advice?

 

Hey Martin B. i have a 2019 lariat. Same issue with the tailgate. Rather than make a grand major project out of correcting this interference. I opted to
utilize a length of door edge moulding. (you can get it in almost any color you like or clear at auto parts).
Installed it on the bottom edge of the tailgate. Seems to work very well and will minimize/eliminate any damage
to paint. or other areas of interference.
You are right, it is not normal and should not exist. Poor design!!~
