Rear taillight assembly

Having problems with my taillight assembly, 2019 2.3 Sport 4x4. With lights off, turn signal is fine. When I turn any lights on (headlights, parking) the turn signal bulb goes solid in drivers taillight and blinker doesn’t blink (just stays solid whether blinker is on or not). Also get faults with my cross traffic and blind spot functions. I’ve noticed condensation within the assembly as compared to other side.

Okay, no biggie right, just a taillight problem to figure out? I suppose as you all with these are aware, it’s a complete sealed assembly. Or so it seems. Talked to the dealer and they will only replace the whole assembly plus it needs to programmed. ~$1400.00! For a bad turn signal bulb? Every time my taillights have problems it’s a $1,400 assembly replacement? Is this right, does anyone have any experience with this problem or have any advice other than biting the bullet?

Thanks in advance

Don't you just love modern technology ?

Looks like wrecking yards are selling them for about $650.00, but you'll still need to get it programmed because of the blind spot sensors.

Yeah, did some searching could find no 2019’s in my area junkyards. Remember when it was a $5 bulb? I got no immediate advice so I pulled the assembly out yesterday, popped the BLIS module off, which did expose the internals and allowed me to dry it out overnight. Lights and blinker working now but still get blis and cross traffic faults. But at least I have a blinker again. Will watch to see if condensation returns. I wonder if unplugging the assembly from truck means it needs to be reprogrammed? Wouldn’t think so, but I dunno.

Sounds like it should be covered by warranty? Is the warranty over already on a 2019?

Warranty on 2019 was just 3 years or 36,000 miles. Not particularly generous, although there is also a powertrain warranty (thru dealer) which probably has a decreasing amount over time.

I don't think the 2019 has any blind spot sensors.... At least for my 2WD Small cab version I have never seen anything about such a feature in what passes for a manual.
