So the other day cruising down the highway I had my cruise control on at about 57 mph, I reach a hill still in cruise control and as I start to climb the hill this weird noise almost sounds like an air leak but static at the same time, comes from down below my feet and its not quiet by any means so I turned the cruise control off and it stopped, I got it back in overdrive without cruise and the sound never came back. I've tried to recreate it several times and every time it comes back when I'm going uphill with the cruise on in overdrive, I can even be in cruise and just rest my foot on the gas pedal and the noise stops. So I'm not sure what would be causing it but to me it sounds like something with the cruise control and or gas pedal. Any ideas?

not sure the entirety of the models covered, but you should see if there is a recall on a part in your cruise, i know my 01 does, they say it can start a fire even when it is off.

 

the recall only delt with a wiring issue i would check for a vacuum leak in the cruise control system or any other vacuum leak under the hood or at the ac control head which also has vacuum lines
