06 vs 08 4.0 SOHC?

Hey guys,

Is there any difference between the 06 and the 08?
Looking to replace my motor with a lower mileage one.

I searched and haven't found anything concrete.

Thanks!

I replaced a 2wd 2003 4.0 with a 2008 4x4 4.0.

Bolted right in except for wiring on intake and such. I simply transplanted from mine to the new donor motor. Exhaust manifolds were direct bolt-in.

Props to RonD for:

2005 and up 4.0l SOHC had the newer timing chain setup so even used it's a better bet

4.0l SOHC was used in these vehicles
2001–2012 Ford Ranger
2001–2010 Mazda B4000
1997–2010 Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer
2005–2010 Ford Mustang

You should be fine
