200 4.0 is it a sohc or ohv

200 4.0 is it a sohc or ohv

i have a 2000 xlt 4x4 with the 4.0 i was wonderin how i could tell if it is a ohv or a sohc, it does not say any where on my motor so i m thinkin it is an ohv not sure tho

OHV. The SOHC didn't come out untill 2001-in the rangers

SOHC far nicer motor by far, the old OHV is more reliable being its an old push rod motor but its lacking some power.

well i just put a k&n fipk on it notice a lil diff but not much now i m lookin to get maybe a chip for it
