2000 4.0 onto a 1998 3.0 truck?

so i found a 4.0 motor out of a 2000 ford ranger. that is the ohv correct? it comes with all the motor wiring but not the ecu. is this motor pats? could i just get an ecu out of any 4.0 ranger and put it in? what other wiring has to be done? like does all the dash stuff just plug and play. is it only the ecu that determines if it is PATS? so could i just get an ecu out of a truck with out pats and then i wouldnt need it? did they ever make a 4.0 with out pats? is the fuel system the same? also what years would i want to get the tranny out of? would an expo manual tranny work?

If it's a 2000 4.0, then it's a OHV and I'd be willing to bet it has PATS

pats started in 2000 i believe, your gonna have to do a bit of work and to tell ya the truth the wiring may be different research all of these things before you tear into anything. an expo tranny (as far as i know) is no different to the 4.0 tranny but the 3.0 tranny and the 4.0 tranny dont have the same bolt pattern. most of the stuff should be plug n play under the dash on the steering column. i am not familiar with rangers with the 3.0 so i could be wrong, so dont just take my word for it. my truck had the ohv in it so i didnt really have to do to much to it, to make it work. but i put an sohc in mine.

well i bought it for $150..came with all the wiring on the motor and the big connector going to the computer. but i need to get a computer and still wondering if one from a 1998 4.0 would work and not have pats...also do i need the fuse box out of the 4.0 engine compartment or will my 3.0 one work...also i think i can get a 5 speed tranny out of a early 90's explorer sport...will this work? is the speed sensor for the explorer in the tranny or in the rear axle like mine....are the clutch systems the same? do the 4.0 trannys still have the ****ty internal slave cylinder? is all the dash wiring the same? thanks
