They make a non extra cab 4.0? I thought they dissappeared with the ohv engine. That's cool.

Was it on a commercial division side or something? I remember trying to build a ranger on their site a couple of years ago and it would not allow that combo.

There was some freak SOHC reg cab edges out there, a few with a 5 speed. Now, the only way to get it a 4L reg cab is with the long box...

Freak indeed! The fastest production Ranger ever produced, lol. Would be a gem to find one of those. There was a yellow one on eBay not too long ago. I have the enxt best, a OHV regular cab, 5-speed

yeah i noticed that about the long bed. It helps with four wheelers and motorcycles though. I sent the salesman i always go to the info on it and i noticed the truck has the open diff. My Edge 4.0 with manual ls is traction challenged at times so this on might be interesting. Ill get the payment price on it and check on a l/s or locker for it.
Thanks

What's the MSRP on it? I would think $3-$5,000 off MSRP + taxes would be in the range.

I work at a Ford dealership and with the Simple Plan that Ford is promoting right now that $17,600 price is probably the best you are gonna get. The way that price is figured out is they take the X-Plan price, add $100 and minus all the rebates that Ford offers.

I got my '01 Reg cab stepside 4.0 in late 2002 for less than 10K...so maybe this might be a decent deal....try to get it down to 15 or so, which is even better

I just e-mailed my accountant to see if there would be a tax advantage to dump a couple of my older Rangers and replace them with newer ones for the granite shop.
A 7ft box would be nice for all the tools they have to haul around.

Here's a pick for instance:

XLT Reg. Cab, Longbed, SOHC, auto
w/4x2 XLT Appearance Package; no Power option

$20,675
$18,675 from the Simple Plan

The 4x4s are a few grand more but 4x2 make it lighter :)

The no power option should help also. I have one with and one without and the doors seem significantly lighter.

It's listed in the 2006 dealer ordering guide so any dealer should be able to get it for any retail customer.

The msrp is 21,400 or close to it. I am still waiting on the phone call from the sales men. Its a nice truck with the carpet interior and the power option package but for some reason it still has the black bumbers on it, o well it should still haul butt though when needed.
thanks

I tried to order an 06 4.0 4x4 with a 6 foot bed and a manual and Ford wouldn't take the order. There were two conflicting order guides at the time, but the online ordering system wouldn't allow them to actually order it, or I'd have had a new 4x4 now instead of a Miata.

It's a stick shift Level II. it stickered for $26,700 They can do better. trust me. They may not like to, but they can. Shop around and get quotes from other dealers and then bring it back to them and make them beat it. It works everytime.

Not to worry, they'll still have rebates. There's always deals goin around Ford, GM and Chrysler.

I'd talk em down like $2,000. If they say no, then say thank you have a nice day, and start walkin out. They'll stop you. Works for me!!!!
