27mpg Wtf!?
27mpg Wtf!?
So this morning after I got off work (midnights blows), I go and fill up my tank. A little bit earlier then normal, but as I have to be back into work at 4AM tomorrow (4AM blows even more than midnight) it was necessary. Anyways, I had a little less than a quarter tank left according to my gauge, and welp 300 miles came out to be just under 11 gallons to fill. That comes out to right about 27. This is my question, when I usually drive another 60miles or so on that same tank of gas and then fillup around 360, my MPG usually ends up being around 22-24. Why the huge difference in a few gallons of gas? I drove it the same way that I always do, on the same route that I always go. So what gives??
Well, it was the first time I used this particular gas station. But I've been getting 22-24mpg consistently since I moved to where I'm at now, regardless of what gas station I've gone to. I've filled up at at least 5 different ones and never expierenced this kind of difference.

It could be a couple of things
If you got behind a semi-truck
Or an old man that dos 15 under the speed limit
Could be good gas, the air was good, a tail wend,
Or a combo of them all
Or you could bin in a UFO tracker beam lol

and you are complaining because???????? you prolly got some good gas...i would try the same station you got it from again and see the results....also you will have a more accurate reading when you fill up with more gas in the tank....
Never make a fuel economy judgment based on a single fillup. There are too many sources of error - angle of the truck, temperature, fuel volatility, filler shutoff calibration, etc. Instead, average the total miles driven over the total gallons used for 3 or more fillups. For the most part, the individual low and high fills will cancel and give you a more accurate number.
Yeah, I usually never fill up at the point I did. Almost always right before it's empty, and 90% of the time its right about 23-24. I just found it extremely odd that when I filled up just 60 miles before normal that I would see that big of a rise. BTW, before you think I'm some lucky guy who gets great gas mileage, I can probably guarantee I spend more money per week on gas then most of you. I got 60 miles to work and about 70 miles to school. So while I get decent gas mileage I pay for it with at least a tank and a half a a week.
Someone borrow your truck and was nice enough to put in some gas (but not a fillup) when they were done?
Or you have pranksters who jacked up your rear axle and let it run in gear for a few hours. That could stack up some really efficient milage... :)

Nope, truck was sitting in my driveway for about a week without being driven as I'm the only one that has keys for it and I was messed up on Vicodin, so no else else drove it and I live in the country where theres not even a whole lot of people to prank me. Who knows, I imagine it was just an anomaly(sp?) as I filled up without being empty.
