4.0 Alternator problems/?????????

Hey guys was hoping for some help. This is like my 3rd alternator now and just this morning it is not working right again. My understanding is that there is not a voltage controller although I wonder if maybe the computer controlls it or not. It will not charge at all right now. Before when this occured if you ran the engine at high rpm's than it would begin charging. One of my alternator a while back started doing high voltage spikes and I don't know if there is anything that it could have messed up. The engine has also been slowly running worse. It starts really rough and sometimes it runs rough at an idle. Any help would be appreciated.

Ya. It is less than a month old from Napa. That's why I think it is something else or at least something that caused it to mess up.
