Good quiet aftermarket exhaust

Exactly what the title says, what is a good quiet aftermarket exhaust system. My stock system is rusted up, and now that I put my body lift on, you can really see it, so I want something that looks halfway decent. I think I just need a cat-back system, but I DO NOT want it any louder than stock. I am just not a fan of a loud exhaust system on a V-6. (Sorry to guys that do have one) Ideas anyone?

Dynomax Ultra Flo Oval is just about 1 notch above stock in the louness department. I ran it for a while with full 2.5" piping. Sounds good too, like i said...very quiet muffler, but also sounds nicer than stock. Plus, it's a straight through and I've personally had my best performance feeling with this muffler compared to all others i've ran.

I only got the muffler because Summit had it for $70 and they had a rebate coupon from Dynomax for $50, so the muffler ran me $20. lol. I ran it a few months back for a while...got tired of the loud *** flowmaster w/o tailpipes.

Any aftermarket performance cat-back is going to be louder than stock. Generally speaking, noise canceling mufflers are energy canceling mufflers. Higher flow usually means higher noise levels.

If you want stock quietness, go a muffler shop and have them replace all the rusted pipes, and put in a stock replacement muffler.

I also have a theory about Mustang V6 stock mufflers. When a Flowmaster is put on a 4.0 Mustang, it has a noticeable power loss. A 4.0 Ranger DOES NOT show the same power loss with a Flowmaster.

Logic would lead me to believe that a Mustang muffler should have a similar effect as a putting performance muffler on a Ranger, but with stock quietness. You should try it if you run across a Mustang muffler.

I might try that. I though about doing the stock replacement, I figured a OEM muffler would be just as expensive as an aftermarket one, but thanks Shane, Ill try to look into that.

I would say a dynomax superturbo muffler. I would see if they make a catback for yours if you go that route.

i did the same thing, very nice sounding muffler, it is not extremly loud but it has a nice rumble to it, and my performance is a lot better with this muffle on.

My Magnaflow cat back is just right. Quiet when it needs to be and loud but not too loud when you want it to be.

Borla makes alot of OEM replacement exaust systems.

I would check with them. They are OEM spec so will be quiet and have very similar flow.
