93 4.0 ohv crank no start. No spark
I see so many crank no start posts. Really hoping to get answers here. Wanting to post the fix whenever that happens.
93 ford ranger 4.0 ohv xlt is a frankenstein of a truck. Engine and 5 speed trans are stock. Not much else is. Built for offroading. Doubler dana 44 9 inch on 41.5s Wheeled all day on the trails. Started and shut off(turned key off) at least 15 times. Drove on to trailer. Started, drove off trailer. Turned key off. Hosed off mud on body and underneath. Did not hose Engine bay. Started. Parked in driveway and locked up. 2 days later crank no start. Pulled out Chilton book to troubleshoot. Hooked up timing light to check spark. No spark.Verified fuel pump makes noise when key on.(also fuel smell if I crank and crank)Has 12 volts to coil pack with key on.
Coil pack signal wires don't drop below 11 volts when cranking. Not cutting voltage to create spark.
Checked ohms of crankshaft position sensor and wiring. Sensor had 15.48 M ohms.Replaced crankshaft position sensor.Still crank no start.Verified ohms of new sensor (and wiring) passed. 580 ohms Proceeded to test EDIS (ICM) plug and wiringChecked power to terminal 8 pcm relay. GoodChecked continuity of terminal 9 and ground. Good.Checked resistance of crankshaft position sensor and wiring (again) good Tried another known good EDIS. No change. Book says check circuit from ignition module to spout connecter terminal 3. Ohmed across .2 ohms good No OBD1 codes present. Does have the all good 111 code. Check engine light turns on with key on and shuts off when cranking. After 3ish seconds of crank no start cel comes back on. All fuses and relays test good. While cranking, have noticed a few times with timing light hooked up no spark while cranking but as soon as I turn key off 1 flash of timing light followed by backfire. Happens 1 out of 20-50 times
Wires and plugs not that old. Maybe 10 hours run time.
I have replaced crankshaft position sensor, coil pack, tried 7 different EDIS6 one of which was from running vehicle. Books next steps were if EDIS ICM and crankshaft position sensor are good replace PCM.
i replaced PCM with remanufactured and either reman one is bad in the same way mine is or not actually PCM issue. Any help greatly appreciated. I am at my wits end with this issue.

Mine ended up being faulty crankshaft position sensor. And the annoying part is I purchased 2 brand new in the box bad ones from Autozone. Bought a motocraft off rockauto and fired right up
That's what mine was too, crankshaft position sensor.
I checked voltages in the wires after pulling some loom apart and using the tech book, then doing a bench test with the sensor itself. The voltmeter told me all I needed to know.
