94 4.0 has flutter

Well yesterday I bought a 1994 ranger xlt ext. cab 5spd 4x4 with the mighty 4.0. Love the power since my last truck had the 4cyl 5spd, but one problem has shown up if you lug it alittle in town or out in the country it develeps a flutter just for half a second, I also noticed it does it with cruise on going down a hill. For some reason it seems to show up more when you turn to the right. I cleaned the MAF it was extremly dirty, but could it also be the throttle position sensor? NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT is on so kinda looking for answers any help would be great. Thanks in advance you guys helped alot on my last ranger!!!!!

are you talkin about a misfire? if so check your plugs and wires they can cause it without a check engine light.

its not like a miss fire it like a chug and it only does it twice then it gets it power and goes. Today it did it on the highway in 5th cruising going around a corner. I thought maybe its the wires or plugs also, cause I noticed at a red light tonight it kinda feels like it had a miss at idle but ran and reved up ok, so guess I will check wires and plugs this weekend.

That check engine light will come on more frequently and eventually will flash like mine did. One of my problems was with build up in the EGR system. The other ended up being the canister purge valve hoses. These hoses dry rot pretty bad and I would check them. The worst one is right under the throttle body. My purge valve is behind the driver's side headlight. It's a cheap fix for those little flutters and loss of power.
