ALL of a sudden

Hey guys, all of a sudden my airbag light came on today. My truck has been parked in my garage for like a day. I havnt moved it or anything and today i started it up to go to the firehall and noticed the the airbag light was on. At the stop sign i turned the truck off and turned it back on. The light is still on. I tryed turning it off then on several time, it did nothing. What could cause it to just go on all of a sudden?

Does the 'off' light work on your airbag key on/off control box?

That's a common/easy fix.

I think he means the air bag light on the instrument cluster.

Someone check me on this but I thought that with airbags that ford HAD to service it, since its a safety item.

I do know that the airbag system is seperate from the PCM. So.. plugging into the OBD2 port with a typical scanner won't let you check the restraint systems.

I think a dealership visit is in order.

The airbag light flashes a two digit code when you start the truck. ex. 4 flashes then 6 flashes. Should repeat the code three times then go solid. Get the code, come back and post it or search and we can help.

that is the drivers side connection under the seat, unplug it clean the connectors and plug it back in.

4-7 is passengers side.
4-6 is drivers side

huh?

slide the seat forward, reach for the connector, unplug, clean, plug back in, no need for removal of the seat.

We do that to keep the average "Joe" from messing with safety and/or potential problematic warrenty items.

Um... because when it comes to safety and/or warrenty items if the **typical** owner were able to access them. Ford can be held accountable in court. For instance if you removed your seat.. then put it back in and left out or cross threaded one of the screws.. then got into a wreck and the seat came loose.. you could sue Ford motor company for allowing **you** to easily remove your seat.

Get mad at your local lawyer.. not Ford. Same thing goes for high warrenty item. MAF.. ect..

And don't get me wrong either. I'm not defending Ford. I too think that people in life need to take accountibility for thier own actions. Too many of my fellow americans are mechanically stupid, do stupid things with a wrech, and them blame other people for thier problems. And the extremely dumb ones try to hide behind a lawyer to get something for nothing.

Just go to your local autparts store and buy a set of torx bits. Perferably impact wrench rated ones.

While we are on the subject. What is the fastener that looks like a torx with a center pin in it called? There is one on the top of the MAF sensor.
