bama Torque vs Performance tune
In your guys' opnion which gives the best 0-60 performance? Realistically this is really all I need the chip to do because I only go to about 0-55 on surface streets.

i would have to say performance. Performance has more oomph up top, where the torque is better down low.
but I have heard from gary (redfx2.. or something like that), that the torque tune was better at the drags. |
hmm very interesting

I read that the performance tune is for over 3K RPMS. Not sure if it's true though.

from what i gather from ^these few posts... torque tune would be better for daily driving since the power is at lower rpms??
|
performance is more for saving gas...

Yeah I read performance is 3 grand up and torque is from 3 grand down. I wish there was one that did the whole RPM range like combine the too hah. I just want to be driving normal and feel an increase and sure feel one when I got to pass some one up wide open.
|
Yeah I agree, I wish there was just one tune that covered both upper and lower rpms, I dont like the fact or only having one or the other at a time.

does the performance save gas over the torque? |

I haven't tested them back to back to see which one is fastest to 60, but for daily driving I actually like the Performance tune better. I like how it shifts though the gears better. It seems that with the Torque tune it wants to hang in a higher gear longer than it should when climbing hills or accerating on an on-ramp or on the highway. The Performance tune will downshift sooner. For instance, I drive mostly highway to work and if I enter an on-ramp at about 20-30mph the truck will want to stay in 3rd gear when I briskly accelerate onto the highway. I have to go pretty deep in the throttle to make it downshift and then it is more violent when it does since I am hammering the throttle more. In Performance mode, it downshifts like it should. Maybe the extra torque is keeping the truck from downshifting? Who knows? That is what it does for me. Now if most of your driving is off-road or in the city, then the Torque tune is great, but for me the Performance tune is easier to live with and I think the truck runs much better overall with that tune in. Just my 2 cents...

Rich I wonder what would be the best tune for someone like me that has a stick? Since I control the trans no matter what... |

IMHO, yes it does. It has helped my truck everywhere. My favorite tune by far. But remember that I do very little in-town driving with my truck. |

I don't suppose you by chance know if both the torque and performance tune still skip 2nd gear at light to moderate throttle?

mine doesn't skip second gear.........i feel it shift every time... :006:
