A bunch of codes after engine changeout

Gents, posted a thread yesterday but have another issue. Swapped a 98 4.0 OHV from 2x4 auto tranny into my 4x4 5spd. Its running fine but i'm getting a bunch of codes that make me suspicious. 0340, 1451, 1152, 1409, 155, 135, 141, & 100. Everything from O2 to camshaft position to canister vent malfunction.

I LEFT the wiring harness that came with the engine on it - again, it was from a 98 2x4 Auto. I had one problem with it immediately with it not cranking due to a wiring difference for the neutral safety switch - which my 5spd doesn't have. Anyway, got that fixed and she's running except all these codes. I didn't want to go down the path of trying to fix every one if there was a possibility of the wiring harness that came off the donor truck being the root cause. I CAN swap them out but just more work.

Ok - any thoughts guys?

I cannot tell you what to do. I can only tell you what I would have done and have done in the past.

Whenever I installed a used engine from a donor vehicle or a salvage yard, I would go out of my way to make sure I stripped the engine down to a long block.

I would reseal the used engine while inspecting the internals to make sure what I was installing was worth the effort.

I would know what I was installing was good, because I would have heard it run and performed a compression test.

Once the Donor engine was cleaned up and resealed I would transfer all my known good parts, sensors etc over from my old engine to the new to me engine.

If any of the parts or sensors was a pain to change once in the vehicle that part or parts would get replaced with new parts.

Even if the donor vehicle was an exact match to my current vehicle I would never use any of the sensors or accessories from that donor vehicle since any one of those parts could have intermittent problems.

Since you are stuck with what you have and have done. I would start by checking anything that may be in common with the current codes.

First I would check the main connection to the computer and the harness and any connection that was removed during the engine install.

Look for unsecured connectors, bent pins at those connectors, loose or disconnected ground wires, blown fuses, pinched or misrouted harness and vacuum lines.

And yes look for differences between the harness that came with the engine and the one that came with the truck.

I have not looked into any of the codes you listed, I think you shouldn't get to technical just yet.

Double or triple check the basics like I mentioned, perhaps fixing one connector or one pinched wire or vacuum line will clear up many of these codes.
