Champion Spark Plugs

I went and got new spark plugs from Napa on the weekend. Ended up not being able to get the old ones out and didn't want to break them. So I still have these plugs.

The plugs they gave me were champion platinum. I'm wondering if these are going to be ok because i've heard that aftermarket do not work very well. Will these be close to stock or should I return them?

Bosch are the problem plugs. I haven't run into any problems with them myself but others have. Champion should be ok.

Spray some PB blaster on the threaded area and wait 5 minutes.

Otherwise.. use only a 6point socket and keep the wrench square to the plug.

your best bet is going with motorcraft plugs and wires... theyre the closest to stock

champions are good plugs for small engines and stuff so I dont see why they wouldnt be OK in a truck? i dont know though

Would having the engine hot make much of a difference getting them out? Or would it make them tighter?

The metal in the head is going to expand at different rates, so in theory it should be easier to take them out when it is warm. Use some PB blaster like Rich said, let it soak for 5 mins, then spray it agin let it sit for 5.

When you are installing the new plugs, throw some Never-seize on there to make thing easier the next time around.

Alright I'll give it a shot. What has to be done if a plug breaks?

Champion platinum. Its there stock (or close to stock) plugs. But I was referring to if a plug breaks while I'm trying to take it out? I'm going to get some PB blaster and spray them down tonight and give it a shot.

Champion plugs are good

I have been running the champion platinum plugs for over a year with no problems. I have been told that the autolite or motorcraft plugs are better but I priced them and they cost at least twice as much. The autolite and motorcraft are supposedly the same plugs or very similar in design. Champion has been around for many years and is a solid plug; maybe not the very best but I have had no problems. I have tried the bosch platinum +2 and after 2 weeks noticed a 2+ mpg drop from the old plugs, so I switched to the champions with no drop from stock mpg.

Champions are fine for mopeds, weedeaters, lawnmowers, etc. Oh, and Chrysler products also.
They also make fine fishing line weights, new or used

I'm pretty sure if the plug breaks off in the head you gotta take the head off and have it drilled out and retapped. Atleast thasts what I've been told.

I dono about that..... Breaking a spark plug where the porcelean is is easy, but where you actually put the socket on to pull or install it, that is hard.

Make sure that when you are changing the plugs, you got a can of that spray air, or a air hose with a spray nozzle on it, and douche out the spark plug holes with air. On my Ranger, for some reason, they put these small heat shields on the spark plugs that just would catch all the dirt, and hold it over the spark plug. Same thing in my Dodge too, but that apparently comes like that from the factory.
