Could be an exaust manifold leak or a lifter or a valve, I have a ticking aswell and was told my manifold has a leak I'm going to get it in next weak then I guess I'll know. Not really sure how to check for a sticky lifter, more than likely a compression check might tell somthing.
Wish I could be more helpful I'm sure someone else will know better than I.

Lifters take up slack in the push rods they are able to expand and fill any gaps created by wear. They will not show up on a compression check as they open valves not close them.

A lifter tick will sound like a small hammer hitting metal, because basically it is.

If you have a sticky lifter use half a can of seafoam in the oil to unstick it.

An exhaust leak will have more pffft noise to it and not as metallic.

It is really hard to diagnose sounds over the net, if you feel lost you may need to find a knowledgeable person or take it to someone.

Ok thanks and yea it's not a manifold leak it's a metallic sound so sea foam will fix it ?

I used half a can on my moms 95 expo when it was ticking. Changed the oil shortly afterwards, hasn't comeback.
