Has any one else had timing chain issues out of the 4.0 sohc mine has destroyed its self and its lookin like $1500 just for parts... I have 2 1994 4.0 pushrod style has anyone done such a swap? I miss my 4x4 im tempted to sell my 4.0s and buy a 302 and a c4.... imput...??????

 

the ohc motor will swap in you will need computer and wireing the trans you got now will bolt up to eather 4.0 expext for flywheel are flexplate . in 1994 4.0s were a 6 bolt crank in 98 they switched to a 8 bolt crank . and thats what all the sohc has

 

i had to replace the timing chains in my 4.0 sohc. need to pull the motor to get the rear chain. and you need special tools .

 

I'd rather swap the engine with a newer one than mess with the chains.
