i have a drone coming from the engine from 2,000-2500 rom. it occurs at only that rpms. is that a balancing issue? or something more sinister?

 

Its probably just the engine. Make sure you have no codes being thrown or what not.

 

I've had this issue in a few cars, under certain load and at certain rpm and it's annoying. Most of the time it was exhaust, but i've recently discovered my transfercase and transfer case skid plate would rub on one another under torque. Once i dropped the skid off the frame it stopped

 

sounds like it could be timing chain rattle?
