Fuel filter sizes

I just bought a ten year old Ranger so I thought I'd replace the fuel filter. Little did I know it was so complicated. I went to AutoZone first. The fuel filter replacement part is a different diameter than the Ford part, but comes with a new mount. The AZ clerk said there are 2 filters for my vehicle than have different hose diameters, one is .31 and the other .37. He said he had another customer get the wrong size and fuel leaked everywhere. So I guess I have to measure mine with calipers? But when I stopped at NAPA, they only had 1 filter, and the clerk said it's the only replacement filter they have listed. It was small outside diameter just like the AZ part. Anyone know what's right for my vehicle, and how good are the small diameter-made in China replacements compared to Ford OEM filters?

Autozone are idiots in my experience. I refuse to go there anymore. Just get the one from napa, or do a little bit of googling to find out for sure.
