gas light?
Might be a stupid question but here goes:
I am just wondering if anyone knows for sure if my truck has a low fuel light? I keep trying to find out but chicken out in fear of being stuck on the side of the road. Thanks :tiphat[1] |
I can't think of a car I've been in where there's not a gas light...
So...you're saying that I do have one??? I have let the gauge just about bounce off the bottom and it's never come on.
there is NO gas light on a ranger......
"Check Gage" comes on when you're low. At least it does on mine.
Not sure on a 97 but on my 03 if you get too low you get the 'CHECK GAGE' light. You could have a burned out bulb or a number of other things. Also the Ranger fuel gauges are anything but accurate, so you may have more fuel than you think.
Hmmm...I guess I'm going to have to fill a couple of gallons in a can and go for a drive one day to be sure. I have heard about the check gauge light but I have never seen it.
Thanks |
Or you could just stay often filled up :-D
When I'm almost on E a gas light comes on in my 04, i'll take a pic next time it does, i'm on full right now so that might be a while.
I don't let mine get below a 1/4 tank usually but I have run it down to empty once. The "check guages" light will come on and a chime sounds every minute or so. Same as the door ajar chime.
my 94 doesn't have one. not too sure on the 95-97s tho
My 04 has a gas light that comes on.
My '98, the red "check gauge" comes on when I'm low on fuel.
Read you manual! It will say in there. At least it should.
my 04 has it
My 06 has a low fuel level light.
Also, if you have something that can scan the PCM you can actually read the fuel level. My autotap does this. Rich |
My 2000 Has a CHECK GAUGE light that comes on
Bringing up an old thread w/ a worthless post.... isnt there a rule about this
:banplz: |
On my 97 it says Check Gauge. I drove around for a day with the light on before I filled up. And it actually depends on what type of incline you are on whether or not it will pop on. I've had mine come on and go off within a few minutes once.
its check guage on older rangers it is in my 98
Rangers from mid-90's though 2003 have the Check Gage light (any combination of low fuel, low oil pressure, high coolant temp).
2004 up have a dedicated Low Fuel Indicator light. |

Fuel Empty light!
Empty light!?
Nope there is none! I own and daily a 1995 ford ranger xlt 2.3l with a 5 speed manual. There is no warning light informing you that your on empty! Make sure you fill up when your a quarter away from empty to avoid being stranded and carry a gas can. |
