gas light?

Might be a stupid question but here goes:

I am just wondering if anyone knows for sure if my truck has a low fuel light? I keep trying to find out but chicken out in fear of being stuck on the side of the road.

Thanks

I can't think of a car I've been in where there's not a gas light...

So...you're saying that I do have one??? I have let the gauge just about bounce off the bottom and it's never come on.

"Check Gage" comes on when you're low. At least it does on mine.

Not sure on a 97 but on my 03 if you get too low you get the 'CHECK GAGE' light. You could have a burned out bulb or a number of other things. Also the Ranger fuel gauges are anything but accurate, so you may have more fuel than you think.

Hmmm...I guess I'm going to have to fill a couple of gallons in a can and go for a drive one day to be sure. I have heard about the check gauge light but I have never seen it.

Thanks

I don't let mine get below a 1/4 tank usually but I have run it down to empty once. The "check guages" light will come on and a chime sounds every minute or so. Same as the door ajar chime.

My 06 has a low fuel level light.

Also, if you have something that can scan the PCM you can actually read the fuel level. My autotap does this.

On my 97 it says Check Gauge. I drove around for a day with the light on before I filled up. And it actually depends on what type of incline you are on whether or not it will pop on. I've had mine come on and go off within a few minutes once.

Rangers from mid-90's though 2003 have the Check Gage light (any combination of low fuel, low oil pressure, high coolant temp).

2004 up have a dedicated Low Fuel Indicator light.

Interesting. I ran mine VERY low once just to see. I pumped in 16 gals and never had a CE light.

And yes my light does work.

Turn the key on and do not start the engine. Look for the light, if you cant find it. Its burned out.

Fuel Empty light!

Empty light!?
Nope there is none! I own and daily a 1995 ford ranger xlt 2.3l with a 5 speed manual. There is no warning light informing you that your on empty! Make sure you fill up when your a quarter away from empty to avoid being stranded and carry a gas can.
