gas milage with a lift

what kind of gas milage are you getting and what size tires and gears are you running?

04blackedge 04-26-2009 07:39 PM

32x11.5, 3" body and 4.10 gears I get 17-18 on winter gas

TrucknGolf 04-26-2009 07:42 PM

15.5 with 170000 and 265-75-16

OVERtheEDGE 04-26-2009 07:44 PM

forgot to say what im getting

12-15 with 31s and 3.55

seed60 04-26-2009 07:47 PM

35x12.5 on steel wheels w/ 4.10's and am getting 10-14 mpg.

Hopefully it will get better after some recent maintenance. Haven't checked yet.

jamiec 04-26-2009 08:03 PM

33 12.50's and 3:73 gears and I'm getting about 12-15mpg

well i really wanted to see what people w/ 4.0ohv engines where getting. after my lift i can get 33s or 35s but ill only have a 4.10. just wanted to know if there would be a big difference from what i get now. but sohc gives some input and kinda helps i guess.....?

t_schloesser 04-26-2009 09:10 PM

sorry if i came off as a diick, but it just seems like MPG is a reoccurring theme.

gas mileage depends alot on how a person drives, where they drive, and not just what mods are on the truck.

nah dude its cool. i know what you mean but finding someone w/ my motor and 33s or 35s and their gas mileage isnt too easy. i have a lead foot like crazy but if i know what i could get i can work on it. driving fast in a lifted ranger isnt the smartest thing to do anyways so i could use the info if i can find it

Lord Of War 04-26-2009 09:23 PM

295's = 33.25, 4.10 gears, 3in BL, and i get 17-18 on winter gas.

99ranger4x4 04-26-2009 09:36 PM

heres my theory

if you want to lift your truck, don't worry about fuel mileage.. the 2 don't mix.

I got 12 from the day i got the truck to the day i lost the ability to measure how far i had gone. but i have a heavy right foot.

x2, same goes for bigger tires than stock.

kinda like buying a 28'+ boat and attaching multiple motors, if you got the money and means... you're obviously not worrying about mileage (or hours/gallon in this example).

Redneckstone 04-26-2009 09:50 PM

I agree with Matt... last thing i ever think about is MPG in my truck.. it sucks honestly i dont care at all..

04blackedge 04-26-2009 09:51 PM

Oh whoops I didn't notice this was in the 4.0 section, my bad

FordGuy302 04-26-2009 09:53 PM

I get almost 18 now, it improved when i lifted mine. And thats correct fuel mileage based onthe distance to work and back not the odometer being off from my tires

99ranger4x4 04-26-2009 10:19 PM

I get 100-120 miles (highway) on half a tank.. so with 5.13s I'm still getting around 12 i guess.

I got 17 with 4.88s on the highway once, mostly uphill. Im still not sure how the hell i pulled that off, i redid the math like 3 times.

OVERtheEDGE 04-28-2009 03:23 PM

well i cant decide. 33s or 35s. ill have 8 inches of lift after the spindles. so im wondering if 35s would rub when i flex? and my gas mileage is only a problem because its my daily driver. if its not under 10 i can handle it. oh and tires went way up in the past week. trying to decide soon

99ranger4x4 04-28-2009 03:41 PM

35s
lol

Downey 04-28-2009 03:44 PM

if you want gas mileage get a car like i did i get 35 mpg in the focus

but my truck

3.73s, 31, 268k, 12-16

sullys_ranger 04-28-2009 05:26 PM

3" body lift, 33x12.50, flowmaster duals, gutted airbox, drop in k&n, stickers and Im getting 17-20 with a 4.0 sohc auto
