Hey folks, I have sprung a pretty bad oil leak and upon inspection it appears to be coming from the head gasket but I'd like to check for some other opinions. The picture of the engine with the green circle, thats where I've pretty much been able to identify the source of the leak, and then the next photo is of the leak on my truck as photographed from through the drivers side wheel well.
Here are the 'symptoms':
-only leaks when running
-oil cap / dipstick dont show evidence of coolant
-coolant reservoir doesnt show evidence of oil
-truck has not overheated since I have owned it, nor had any leaks of any kind
-doesnt burn white smoke or oily blue smoke out the tailpipe.
- it has 320,000KM
- No lights on the dash / no oil light on
- has not thrown codes / misfired etc.
- runs and drives fine still, temp gauge right in the middle.
I'm wondering if this problem sounds like the head gasket because it doesn't exactly sound like many descriptions of it that i've heard, and yet I cant imagine where else oil could possibly be coming from!
If it is the head gasket, how is it not throwing a code, etc? It drives the same and doesnt drive rough or anything etc.
