Tonneau covers do not burn more gas, but having the tailgate down does.....

i didnt see one with them doing one with a soft tonneau. i only saw tailgate down, up ,off and hard tonneau. mine is soft, only adding 30 lbs as to a 150+ lb(?) hard tonneau. It's 3 tanks in a row with the same reaults for me. i can only state as truth what I witness with my own eyes.

My truck with no modifications and stock tires, and pretty easy driving gets a hair under 15 with pretty much 95% city driving. It has 59k miles. Probably getting close to full tune up time.

I have a 2002 ranger with 50K miles on it and i get 16.4mpg all city driving and thats not to good i think it might be because i just put my new exhaust in and it might be breaking in still idk but i hope it gets better. Im gonna get a new intake when i can afford it and I hope that helps

Full tank, mostly city approx 500Kms/ 60L tank

full tank towing 3000lbs in 5th @ 2000-2500RPM 380Km (give or take no more/less than 10Kms) to a 60 L tank.

full tank towing in 4th towing 3000lbs @3000-3500Rpm 280Km (give or take no more or less than 10 Kms) to a 60 L tank.

So to make it actual figures:

A.) driving in the city, mostly 19.49MPG
B.) towing 3000lbs in 5th @ 3000RPM 14.8 MPG.
C.) towing 3000lbs in 4th (to stay out of OD, as EVERYONE AND HIS PICKLE says a guy should)..and I get 9.74MPG

............HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM........that's just not gonna do.

Got to get that paperwork together, go talk to the dealers in town.

I am sure an underworked V8 will get better than my struggling V6.

I think i might tow enough in the next year or two, that this lil ranger just won't do....BUT GD did it ever climb those mountain creek beds last summer...like a salmon, going upstream to GET SOME!!!

BAH!!

I had such plans for this lil truck.

Johnny

Eugene is the homeless capital of the US... homeless to population ratio is the worst in the country

if you have a manual keep it in 5th, unless it cannot pull up the hill in 5th

ouch that sucks! that is the same mpg i am getting, hell i get better than that!

my last fillup was 250 miles on the trip and 16.3 gallons to fill up.

15.33mpg
that was all short trip city driving. Took me 2 weeks to go through that tank.

Before I made my snorkel I sucked some water into my motor two different times.....never had an engine lite come on but do you think that water passing through the motor could hurt the O2's?

possible.

when was the last time you changed like the following items

fuel filter
plugs
wires
run some fuel system cleaner

etc?
I mean I am working on installing my headers and my plugs only have like 20k miles on them and the gap was all messed up. So I am getting some new ones today.
