How much HP does a Flowmaster 40 series add. I am running a straight pipe into 2.5in duels. Should I put on a 40 series.
I like the sound of my truck with no muffler. If I decide to add a muffler will there be a dramatic sound lose?

Well the straight pipes made you lose backpressure which translated into lost HP, so if you put on mufflers, it'll bring it back to the stock HP, maybe +1 or 2 HP.
As for the sound, I can't say since I've never heard a straight-piped Ranger yet. But Flows are one of the loudest systems for the Ranger.

Lord of War, I tried to PM you but you have too many messages. Anyway....I kinda want to lose the muffler on my truck. The Thunderbolt system sounds OK, but I kinda want more. I want to leave my cats alone thank you.
How much power will I lose? Has anyone dynoed this to prove it? Also, what about the sound? My '97 4.0 had no muffler and I liked it. I am afraid if I remove the muffler it will lose the good tone it has and just be loud.
How do these 4.0 SOHC sound with no muffler and daul tailpipes out the back?

Adam I really like me set up. It has a real deep tone in low RPMs. When you wrap it up in the higher RPMs it really screams. I have noticed maybe a VERY slight drop in HP. Nothing to worry about and last tank of gas I hit 260 miles and thats with a BL and 285/75/16. I am pleased
