Intake Gaskets
Intake Gaskets
I just got done putting intake gaskets on my dads 99 ranger 4.0 OHV and one of the fuel injectors is leaking. Is there any way to fix it without pulling it all apart and buying new gaskets again?
You can remove the fuel supply manifold, along with the fuel injectors, without unbolting the lower intake manifold. The fuel supply manifold is fastened to the lower intake manifold with the same studs that hold the nuts for the upper intake manifold. The studs require a "reverse torx head" bit (forgot the size).
The best way to free up each of the injectors from the lower intake manifold is to twist back and forth while pulling. Work each one, they will come out easy enough.
How did you determine that an injector is leaking?

I watched the fuel squirt out of the middle injector on the passenger side. I need to calrify. I was only replacing the upper intakte gaskets, above and below the fuel supply manifold. I just bought a new set of O rings for the injectors. I should be set this time lol
