In Need of a new muffler
Hello I drive a 1997 4.0L STX and I need a new muffler really bad due to the fact that the current system is stock and it sucks. My dad suggests getting a flowmaster to put on but i was wondering if anyone on here had luck with anything else? I want my truck louder but not too loud or my girl might strangle me. thanks.

Hi James,
I just put a Gibson dual cat-back on my 2000 4.0L 4x4 with a 5 speed manual. I had the muffler shop put the dual exhaust straight back rather than out the sides behind the wheels. A simple bend. It looks real nice and sounds great. Not too loud but IMHO about perfect. I cost me $600 in Canada but you can get it cheaper in the US. Good luck!

First of all... Welcome to r-f! I have a magnaflow catback on my truck. 2.5" single in with dual 2 1/4" out to tips straight out the back. It is a very nice, beefy, manly sounding exhaust. Minimal drone on the highway, quiet around town, an awesome deep growl under throttle. I highly suggest magnaflow.
Basically the choice is yours but I will recomended you find the LOOK you want with your exhaust then worry about the muffler because it is very easy to change if you don't like the sound
