need some help please

Ok i have a 2001 ranger 4.0 sohc, i did the pcv valve and line, o2 sensors, and upper intake manifold gaskets, i still have the lean codes on both banks whats next? I would have liked to do the lower manifold gaskets but got lost and frustrated non the less. I look forward to the imput thanks all!

Have you connected a pressure guage to the fuel rail ?

no i should do that? I thought the lean codes meant some kind of vaccum leak? What am i going to be looking for in doing this? What PSI? Thanks i appricate it

I've seen a malfunctioning MAF cause lean codes.

I believe 60 - 65 psi.

And I've seen it numerous times (even while working at a GM dealer) when the lower intake gaskets are the culprit. Those seals/gaskets get hard as a rock. Once the lower intake is off, you'll be able to see brown areas on the light green colored gaskets indicating that it wasn't sealing because the gasket is no longer pliable. And sometimes they are cracked & looks like dry-rot.

Hate to send ya back in there if you were getting frustrated but that's where you need to go. **NOTE**Pay close attention to the o-ring on the EGR tube when reinstalling it so it doesn't get torn or slip out.

K thanks all i'm going to do the lower intakes this week-end, thats the last thing on my list everything else checked out good. Thanks all again i appricate it i'll let you know how it comes out!
