Neglect and 100k
Neglect and 100k
I have an 07 XLT 4x4 autotragic encroaching on the 100k mark. Due to being furloughed from my job for the past year and a half, maintenance other than oil and filter has been neglected. Im now back to work and making money again.
Things to do:
Flush transmission
Change t-case fluid
Front and rear diff fluid
P/S Fluid
Flush radiator
Change thermostat
Plugs and wires
Fuel Filter
Clean MAF
PCV valve
Anything else I should do?
For no maintenance, I have had zero problems and get 22mpg highway. Ford is the new honda IMO. Its starting to feel sluggish and has a higher idle on start up. Transmission gets goofy sometimes but with 100k on the fluid Im surprised it still shifts. I put that lucas transmission fluid stuff in when she starts to shift hard and she returrns to buttery smooth shifting.

I have a k and N air filter. I bled the brakes recently and I will probably have the stealership flush the tranny which I assume will come with a filter. Dropping the tranny pan is a little more involvement than I care to take on at this point.
Taking the pan off isn't hard at all to be honest. Its about 12 bolts or so and then you drain it, pull the filter off put the new one on (dont forget the o rings) and slap the pan back on. Doesn't take more than an hour.
