New replacement starter purchased is different than bad starter I pulled off

To my starter went out on my 96 ranger 4.0 so I bought a brand new starter the brand new starter came with a lead that comes off of the same point in which the truck has a plastic clip that would clip on to where this lead is coming off of at the end of the lead is a metal butt connector and type deal that doesn't sync up with the plastic clip coming from the truck is there a way that I can make an adapter or force them together? What do I need another starter

I crimped the 2 wires together on mine all is well , just cut the end off the original wire and skin the end then crimp the 2 together with the end that is on the new starter
