Newbie Oil Plug Question

I am trying to change the oil for the first time on a 2001 V6 4.0L 4x4 Ranger. I want to make sure I have located the oil drain plug correctly. See the attached photo. Is the arrow pointing to the correct bolt food the drain plug? It just seems odd that it is not at the lowest point in the pan. Also, does anyone know what size socket it takes? Thanks!

Looks like you have a leaking oil pan gasket, too.
