No start issue
No start issue
A little bit of back story. I had a new engine installed 2007 sohc into my 98. Installed 98 new fuel pump. I did the first 03 swap a while ago. Just don't have time to do it myself anymore. I had an intermittent no start but not a no start at all. I have other problems as well. p0443 code, evap purge circuit fault, at times the alternator decided to stop putting out voltage to charge the battery. I replaced the alternator and the connector, still nothing. I replaced the purge solenoid and connector and still nothing. So all these problems and eventually led me to believe the pcm could be at fault. Fuel pump would key up but not shut off would just make a noise and keep making it. Kinda the same noise you hear when key on but keeps making it. Not exacty the same but like it. Even replaced the fuel pump relay, still nothing.
I replaced the pcm, along with the key, and key cylinder. Supposedly they are all from the same vehicle, Everything matches up. Key fits into cylinder. Even got another signal reader at the key cylinder that is needed to wire up the pats system. Still no start, however the fuel pump keys off now. (keys on then, "reaches pressure", keys off) I don't have a scrader valve to test pressure on the rail. I pull it off and it's pumping fuel however it doesn't look like its coming out very strong. Still have to test pressure.
This leads me to two conclusions, 1. either everything works fine and the key needs to be programmed to the computer. or 2. the fuel pump is defective and doesn't provide enough pressure for the system.
I have checked the pressure specs and the SOHC runs at 64/psi or so. However I have performed this swap on another ranger that was also a 98 with the stock fuel pump and had no previous issues. Is there anything I'm missing? I have also squirted some fuel into the intake and it started for a sec. Checked for spark and it's good. Are my conclusions faulty?
