NOS Octane boost

I was looking at a bottle of NOS octane boost today, and I was just wondering if it's as good as they say it is, or if it's like every other performance fluid, but you just pay more for the label..

octane boosters are bullcrap pretty much anyway, when they say 3 points, it means .3 octane increase.

plus, most octane boosters use MMT, which can foul spark plugs pretty quickly. if you are determined to use an octane booster, find one that uses MTBE, it smells a little like almonds, its hard to find but is much safer to use than MMT.

the bottom line is, its MUCH cheaper to buy premium fuel than to use octane booster, and if youre running 93 octane already, 93.3 octane wont do you a whole lot better

Umm....it really works in old cars/trucks...because sometimes 93 or 92 octane doesn't like to run in a 14.1:1 engine, and your too cheap for $6 gallon 110 octane race fuel....but i've never used the NOS brand. don't care for it.

But.....

Octane boost SURE works well in a lawnmower.....ended up doing about a 300ft wheelie and running into a fence just before the start of a lawnmower race. I ended up looking like I was in PBR on a lawnmower...legs thrown out to the side, scared sh!tless. Works well on a stock 10hp Briggs.

do you know how much octane boost you would have to get to make 93 octane into 110? lets to the math.

110-93= 17 octane
17 octane / 0.3 octane per bottle = 56.7 bottles
57 bottles * $4 per bottle = $228 to make 93 octane into 110 with octane booster.

228 + 3x = 6x
228 = 3x
x = 76

youd have to buy 76 gallons of 93 octane to break even, and thats not even considering youd triple the amount of octane boosters for that much fuel.

if you need the higher octane, buy the higher octane fuel, the booster is just never worth it, and with the damaged caused by MMT, its certainly not worth it

They are all the same. Waste of money, scam, sham, advertising BS, crap. Buying it is like shoving cash down the intake and watching it get pissed out the tailpipe.

AHHHHHHHHHH NO, haha. dont use that stuff either, its been shown to damage the cylinder walls and there have been NUMEROUS lawsuits against them for engine damage

there is VERY rarely a "fix in a bottle" the only thing i can think of that may actually do anything is to use some injector cleaner/upper engine lubricant, but even most of those are snake oil anyway.

mind if i ask, is there a problem youre trying to fix by using octane booster or the Zmax stuff?

ZMax is actually one of the only ones to have the lawsuits dismissed... not defending it and don't use it, just FYI..

A cheap way to make Race gas or at least 100 ocane is Toulerane(sp) its a Paint thinner that you can buy at a any paint store. When mixed to the right ratio with gas you can get sensor safe 100 ocante cheaper then race gas.

a lot of the Audi s4 bi turbo guys showed me their results and such. I am selling my turbo car and dont need more then 93 octane for the ZE pgt.

yes that its.. Sorry i dont have my write and (ratios on this computer)
Its worth a try looking up but its a solid way to have 100 octane(its has to be done correctly in ratios though)

It has 245 xxx km on it and I've only ever seen 1 bottle of injector cleaner run through it... I figurd if all this stuff was as good as it says it is, I may as well run a bottle through while I'm tuning up the rest of the engine

injector cleaner may be worth it, but nothing in the oil is going to help you any more than clean oil itself. if there was something that oil manufacturers could add to oil that would make it better, they would.

and if you put the tornado on your EXHAUST manifold, it will help the environment by making the gasses swirl through the cat!
